About the club The Duton Hill Yacht Club was founded in 2002 by a number of enthusiastic local residents of Duton Hill during an informal meeting convened at the Three Horseshoes Public House in Duton Hill, which has become the official Clubhouse. The formation of the Duton Hill Yacht Club was as a direct result of a delivery trip hosted by the President of the Club Captain Paul Stephens whose yacht “Grace Jones” was required to be delivered to Ipswich for some warranty work during the winter lay up in 2002. The first attempt failed due engine failure and as a result of this trip and the post discussions by the crew, which consisted of Mr Alan Spinks Commodore and Mr Mike Young Vice President, the Duton Hill Yacht Club was formed. The Yacht Club, The Three Horseshoes Public House is run by the Club Steward, Mr Derek Connell. This became the centre of the discussions that resulted in other local villagers expressing an interest in joining the club. It was then decided that a website should form the basis of recording the Club’s activities and hence this site was formed. Since it’s formation the club members have had many
excursions and the stories of these adventures can be found in the newsletter.
It was also decided that at some time in the future a picture gallery
should be established where the wonderful, or not, sights can be viewed
– watch this space. The buy and sell site is for all and sundry
to advertise their wares free of charge or just to post notices on the
bulletin board.
